Couples Counseling

The UCC offers limited brief therapy for those couples seeking affordable and confidential counseling services.  Couples therapy is offered to students whose presenting concerns would best be addressed with both members of that relationship present.  It is up to the students what constitutes a couple and all couples are welcome to utilize this service as long as one member of the couple is currently enrolled as a UofU student.  Married, unmarried and LGBT couples are all welcome.

Common Concerns addressed in Couples Therapy but not limited to:

  • Enhancing the relationship
  • Balancing relationship and student roles
  • Frequent arguing
  • Difficulties with communication
  • Commitment
  • Infidelity
  • Making difficult decisions
  • Parenting
  • Finances
  • Working on sexual and emotional intimacy
  • Adjusting to transitions (a new baby, death in the family, graduation, adjustment to Utah, Cultural and bi-racial relationships, both or one partner coming back to school)

Generally couples for whom long-term treatment is appropriate will be referred out to the community.  EAP couples services are available to University employees at no cost
